Medallion Hunt ends after 3rd clue
THE MEDALLION HAS BEEN FOUND!

Donna Milliron, her three daughters (Tracy Headley, Kristy Wray, Laury Mavity) and 5 grandchildren discovered the Great Medallion Friday night at Westside Park under the fender of the trailer located southeast of the concession stand. They will receive $1,000 in Chamber gift certificates. Watch for us in the Homestead Parade on Saturday, September 11. Congratulations!

CLUE #6
In this city and country Mary and Randy first met,
Wandering a path, watching the sun set.
Flowers from Pratts for you, my dear,
There you will find the Medallion is near.
Keep the wheels turning as you look for the stash,
You’ll find the Medallion hiding under a Nash.

CLUE #5
You won’t find these sticks on a cedar tree,
But around a park where the admission is free.
Sunflowers bloom in your visions at night,
Near a field where the Medallion is safe out of sight.
Clue Number 6 will be the last round,
Soon we hope the Medallion is found.

CLUE #4
Avenues, alleys, or streets lead you out and about
The $1,000 payout is a bonus – no doubt!
Our clues are meant to be twisted like a vine on a fence
Just read between the lines and soon they’ll make sense
So get off your duff, don’t be left behind,
The Medallion’s a trophy that’s yours to find.

CLUE #3
Some of our clues might be a stretch,
But finding our gem is quite a catch.
Don’t let the clues rack your brain,
The effort you put forth will not be in vain.
The Medallion rests in a convenient location,
Finding it soon should be this week’s vocation.

CLUE #2
Star Spangled Spectacular is what it's about,
Smiling and waving along the parade route.
You might hedge a bet of where it's hiding
Finding it first, in the car, you'll be riding.
Trailing the Medallion is great family fun
Deciphering each clue will get the job done.

CLUE #1
The twenty-third Great Medallion Hunt has begun,
Gather your friends and join in the fun.
If you've positioned yourself in the past year,
You will be ready to kick it in gear.
We'll give you the clues so you can begin,
If you play the game well, $1,000 you’ll win.

The goal of the Citizens Great Medallion Hunt is to provide everyone the opportunity to get caught up in the spirit of the annual Homestead Festival and get it off to a great start.

2010 Volunteer of the Year awarded
PRINCETON, IL - July 16 at the Beef and Ag Festival a presentation by Citizens First National Bank was made to recognize Beverly Neff as Citizens’ 2010 Volunteer of the Year. This award was established to acknowledge a Bureau County resident for their outstanding service, leadership and/or dedication to their community.

Citizens recognizes its responsibility extends beyond providing financial services to the communities we serve. We strongly believe the ongoing success of a community involves good corporate citizenship and volunteerism. Nominations for the award were sought from city and village officials throughout Bureau County as well as bank employees from our Princeton, DePue and Spring Valley offices. This award is not intended for specific achievement, but rather for contributions that have improved the quality of our communities. Some of the criteria for nomination included serving in a leadership capacity to local organizations, instrumental in a major project improving the quality of life, outstanding reputation within the community as a volunteer who is reliable and enjoys dedicating time and energy to their community and must be a resident of Bureau County. Citizens staff members, board members and their spouses were not eligible for nomination.

Beverly Neff has been very active in various organizations and community activities throughout the county. Her continuous support and commitment to Girl Scout is outstanding. Serving as a Girl Scout leader for the past 10 years she has helped girls achieve their Bronze, Silver, and ultimately the Gold Award (equivalent to the Boy Scout Eagle Scout). She has been Cookie Chairperson for the Princeton area, served four years as the Service Area 30 Service Unit Manager as well as their Treasurer. Neff has also directed and assisted the Girl Scout Day Camp.

In addition to her involvement in Scouting, Neff instructs CPR classes for the American Red Cross and is also the Service Area 30 First Aid/CPR Trainer for the council.

Her public spirit began overseas with service to her country. Neff is a retired Air Force Nurse who served in the Philippines from 1972-1975 and from 1989-1991. She was also stationed in Okinawa, Japan in 1991. Neff was the Charge Nurse for the Pediatric Ward in the Philippines and was involved in Operation Baby Lift. This involved the relocation of 10,000 orphans from Vietnam to the Philippines and onto the United States for adoption and foster care. She also participated in Operation Homecoming and assisted with the release of our POW’s in Vietnam. In 1981, while stationed in Weisbaden, Germany, she not only served as an Assistant Girl Scout Leader, but aided our U.S. Hostages after their release from Iran after 444 days in captivity.

Neff has dedicated countless volunteer hours over the years to the Girl Scouts and has been an integral part of contributing to the growth of the council and helping girls achieve their highest awards. Her commitment to the community is apparent through her volunteer work at the Princeton Christian Academy and as an active member of the Princeton Community Band since its inception in 2005.

Given the far-reaching, selfless nature of her efforts, Beverly Neff is an ideal recipient of the Citizens Volunteer of the Year Award. The winner of the eighth annual Citizens Volunteer of the Year Award was nominated by a resident of the community and chosen by a committee of bank staff. The award was presented at the Decatur Park Singers concert on Friday, July 16, 2010 by Tom Ogaard, President and CEO of Citizens First National Bank. Neff received an engraved clock and her name will be displayed on a plaque in the downtown lobby of Citizens First National Bank.

Ogaard named president
Princeton National Bancorp, Inc. announced the appointment of Thomas D. Ogaard as President & CEO effective February 2, 2010. Ogaard joined the Company in August of 2009 and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of both Princeton National Bancorp, Inc. and Citizens First National Bank. Ogaard has an extensive background with both regional and community banks in the Midwest.

“I am very excited about this new opportunity with the Company and Subsidiary Bank,” Thomas D. Ogaard commented. “The current management has built a strong customer foundation, solid asset base and continuous earnings stream. I have joined an outstanding Company and look forward to being a part of its future successes.”

“I have been fortunate to join a fine management team,” continued Ogaard. “The Management and Boards of Directors are focused on the long-term safety, soundness, strength and viability of the Subsidiary Bank and the Company. The current economic times have impacted all financial institutions and will continue to be an issue. Citizens First National Bank has been serving customers since 1865 and will continue to meet the needs of individuals, businesses and public entities for many years to come.”

Tony J. Sorcic, former president and CEO commented, “Mr. Ogaard has been a fine addition to the management team. His knowledge of banking will be an asset as he leads the Company into the future. I look forward to the many successes of the Company which will further strengthen the franchise value and I am confident Tom, the Boards of Directors and Management will achieve many accomplishments going forward.”

Chairman Craig O. Wesner stated, “We are fortunate to have someone with Mr. Ogaard’s experience in banking assume the President’s position. He has demonstrated several strengths in his short time with the Company and will be a valuable asset. Although we are losing an excellent leader with the retirement of Tony J. Sorcic, Ogaard will continue the same community bank philosophy and customer and shareholder focus which has developed Princeton National Bancorp, Inc. into a fine institution.”

Ogaard has a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Bemidji State University, in Bemidji, Minnesota. He has been active in such organizations as Rotary, March of Dimes, Chambers of Commerce, Habitat for Humanity, United Way, Junior Achievement, and has served as a youth baseball, softball and hockey coach and has been an active member of his church. Tom and his wife Mary Kay look forward to continuing their involvement in community activities and helping the worthwhile organizations that serve the area.
